Movement

Fall 2010 Worship Series

Spiritual growth is essentially about movement. It's about progressing along the continum of maturity in response to Jesus Christ's transformational work within us. To be growing spiritually - both as individuals and as a church - is to be going somewhere, to be advancing from one stage of spiritual growth to the next. As Henry Blackaby put it in "Experiencing God," we cannot stay where we are and go with God.

We want to intentionally pursue the growth and maturity Christ desires for us, so this fall we'll study the book of I Peter. The Apostle Peter wrote this letter to encourage movement. He wanted the recipients of his letter to be changed and to make progress spiritually. He lays out the gospel-centered motivation and the practical implications of spiritual growth. He addresses the significant forces of opposition to this growth. The goal of his letter is to catalyze movement.

A Plan for Personal Study

One of the best ways to experience movement toward spiritual maturity is to set aside time to listen to God as He speaks to us through His word. We encourage you to dig deeper into I Peter by following our provided study guides, which offer a personal plan for weekly devotions. These devotionals are available each Sunday morning as a part of the bulletin, or are available for download below.
