John Piper, Desiring God: “…God’s own glory is uppermost in his own affections. In everything he does, his purpose is to preserve and display that glory.”

Piper: “…he must be for himself is he is to be for us… If God should turn away from himself as the Source of infinite joy, he would cease to be God.”
